E-books ("readers"): what's new?

Although the market for devices for reading electronic books is almost not growing (data may be outdated), new products appear constantly. As a result, competition is increasing. At the moment, "readers" from different manufacturers released not so little . And in early 2008, the list of these useful devices was replenished with two more copies.

One of them - Hanlin eReader V9 - from the company Jinke Electronics , which has already released several similar products , will soon be available for personal use. This is a WOLF Linux OS device with a 9.7-inch screen (of course, e-ink technology) supporting 825 × 1200 pixels, a Samsung ARM 9 processor at 200 MHz and a 950 mAh battery capable of providing just a huge number of screen drawings (with drawing 300 pages of text per day, according to the manufacturer, the battery will last for a month). Among the supported formats (there are about a dozen of them) PDF finally appeared.

Dimensions eReader V9 are 255.8 × 173.5 × 14.3 mm, and weight - 320 grams. A new reader will cost about $ 600. Definitely expensive. That's just the exact date of entry into the market has not yet specified. Although you should still expect that the device will get to Russia much later than the official world release.

As for the second product - the E-BOOk “reader” from iRiver - at the moment it is just a prototype. And in general it is not clear when he will get to the store shelves and whether it will happen at all. No technical data yet. It is only known that E-BOOk will work (up to six months!) On AAA batteries. We will wait for the specifications and new data. In the meantime, you can admire the screens .
