Toshiba at CES 2008 showed visitors to its booth a new UMPC, which used a direct methanol fuel cell fuel cell as a power source.

Unfortunately, no additional information about the characteristics of both the UMPC and the Toshiba fuel cell itself is provided. Visitors to the exhibition could only note that the power of an ultra mobile PC is enough to work under Windows Vista and that the power supply is not built-in, but external.
Whether the promising device will reach the commercial implementation stage and when this happens is not yet clear. But the fact that the company is working in this direction can not but rejoice, since the use of fuel cells in various kinds of portable devices can increase their battery life dozens of times.
