Rover Curiosity sang "Happy Birthday" to himself

Today on Habré an interesting article appeared - the result of the work done by the Curiosity rover (for the year). In addition, a note from a NASA video was published the other day, where the year of operation of the rover was compressed to two minutes. Well, in honor of the rover’s birthday, NASA engineers came up with one more interesting thing: they set up a soil analysis system so that it reproduces the “Happy Birthday” melody for everyone who can hear the sound on Mars.

It is clear that the soil analysis system is not equipped with a speaker, so the melody is played by a motor capable of making rather loud sounds at certain frequencies. Usually the motor is used to move the soil to the analyzer. But now - the system is used for purposes that can not be called practical.

Generally speaking, the playback of “Happy Birthday” for some reason now requires a license from Warner Music, but there are no ships on Mars. Although you can try to send a lawsuit with a new rover, which will fly to the Red Planet in a few years.

By the way, the first comment in the original news pleased:

“Music brings us all together!” She says. Warner Music responds with YouTube take-down.
