Globacore, a company specializing in the production of large-format multi-touch monitors and interfaces, announced a remake of the game Paperboy . The game PaperDude, based on the immortal classics of 1984, uses many modern technologies: the Kinect motion sensor and the most promising virtual reality glasses Oculus Rift.
PaperDude is based on the Unity engine, the models for it were made in 3D Studio and textured in the Photoshop editor. As demonstrated in the video above, the player pedals the exercise bike, performs target guidance, which is helped by the low response time and all-round view of the Oculus Rift, and makes a roll with a virtual roll of the newspaper, which is fixed by the Kinect motion sensor. The KickR sensor receives pedal rotation and sets the speed of movement in the game. KickR can also be programmed to hinder progress or even stop when hitting an obstacle. To connect to a computer, you have to use the iPad’s Bluetooth channel.

Gameplay PaperDude repeats Paperboy gameplay: the player is offered the role of distributing newspapers with the need to avoid obstacles and other road users and with the possibility of vandalizing homes and private property. In the alpha version there is only one kind of natural obstacles - the road barrier. In the final version there will be more road users and objects in the player’s path, as well as an obstacle course and statistics of points scored. This is an unconditional gift for fans of the game, and for everyone else - an interesting project that combines many unconventional methods for entering and outputting information.
