Updated vision of approaches to information security from Gartner

Gartner analysts have updated a two-year-old document with an overview of major initiatives in the field of information security technologies and services that need to be implemented to reduce risks from internal and external threats.

The highest-level document - one illustration plus 2 pages of text. But they fit:

• defining the goals and objectives of providing information security in modern conditions;
• the role of the CIO in the process of ensuring information security and five factors that it must necessarily take into account;
• description of a structured 4-step approach to information security.

The differences from the previous version of the document are minimal - they added a block for technical level specialists with a description of 5 recommended steps for successfully ensuring the information security and replaced the illustration.

The new picture is prettier, good for presentations to the leadership, but less loaded with meaning. The previous one was more technical and “talking”, so I liked it more, although it was plainly drawn.

However, this is not surprising - after all, the old picture was taken from the much larger report “Research Roundup for Infrastructure Protection”, which contained detailed recommendations on the selection and implementation of the information security technologies mentioned in the picture. And it is very gratifying that Gartner analysts have identified Endpoint Protection technologies as the main pillar of infrastructure protection - after all, Security Code offers a wide range of products for these purposes, which means we are at the forefront of progress J

I recommend everyone to look at this document, which can be useful for determining priorities and preparing justifications for programs aimed at developing and adapting information security systems to changing conditions.
