NFC One Ring

I came across a very interesting project on Kickstarter - NFC Ring . The ring allows you to open doors, unlock a mobile phone and transfer data.

There are two NFC zones in the ring. One is for private data. With it, you can open locks with support for NFC technology, unlock a smartphone. And one - for public. In it, you can write a link to a business card site or a phone number that can be transferred to the other person on his mobile device by lightly touching his gadget.

Pros:

• The ring does not have a battery and does not require recharging, as it works in the passive mode. In this mode, the Target Device can pull out its operating power from the electromagnetic field provided by the Initiator, thus making the Target Device a repeater.
• The most interesting thing about this project is Open Source. There is a special application on Apache Cordova that will allow you to provide your ring with its own new functionality.
• In general, the company has a very good approach: not only software in public access, but also the source code of the ring design. You can print any frame on your 3D printer to your taste, and this is very pleasing.

Minuses

• The ring on the finger can rotate, and each NFC zone has its own functionality. Therefore, the ring should always be in the same position.
• NFC-understanding devices are generally not enough in Russia
• There are bugs when interacting with Nexus 7
• If you have a Samsung S4 or Z10 - you will have to take a thicker ring, as the standard sample does not have enough range.
