AFK "Sistema" bought 66% of the shares of the British WaveCrest
Sistema announced the acquisition of a controlling stake in the telecommunications holding WaveCrest Group Enterprises . As part of the deal, Sistema bought an additional issue of WaveCrest Group Enterprises shares for £ 20 million, becoming the owner of 66% of its share capital.
The main business areas of WaveCrest Group are wholesale trade in international traffic, provision of communication services via telephone cards, as well as Internet telephony via broadband networks (VoIP). WaveCrest Group has points of presence in the UK, USA, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Hong Kong, serving over 300 of the world's leading telecommunications operators. The company sells more than 300 million minutes of international traffic per month, is one of the leaders in the telephone card market in the UK and Ireland, and provides IP telephony services in Scandinavia under the Worldcall brand. The WaveCrest Group’s turnover in 2005 was about $ 280 million.
