Google generates 25% of Internet traffic in the US

Google continues to develop infrastructure and increase traffic, the share of which has already grown to 25% from Internet service providers in North America.

Three years ago, Google’s share was estimated at 6%. Since then, the company has installed Google Global Cache caching servers for almost every major Internet provider in the world.

New statistics published by the Internet monitoring service Deepfield based on the removal of data from the routers of backbones in different parts of the United States.

The company emphasizes that this is the average daily statistics, while at peak hours the traffic of Netflix video service exceeds Google traffic. This happens for a few hours every night, and during the Netflix cache refresh every morning.

The main part of Google’s traffic comes from Youtube, but other services, such as search, mail, web apps, file hosting, advertising, web analytics, mobile apps, social network, photo hosting, etc., make up a significant part.

The company Deepfield also draws attention to another interesting figure - what is the percentage of user devices capable of going online that daily communicate with Google servers. There are already more than 62%, including personal computers, mobile devices, game consoles and other devices.
