Canonical's 32 millionth crowdfunding to produce a new smartphone

On July 22, a new campaign from Canonical was launched on the Indiegogo crowdfunding website to develop a new generation of mobile phone. The smartphone will come with two operating systems in Dual Boot mode, the recently announced operating system from Canonical Ubuntu Touch and for those who have a new operating system are not satisfied with something, you can use Android out of the box.







One of the main features of the smartphone is that by inserting the phone into the docking station, you get a fully working Ubuntu operating system.

A smartphone can be bought today at a price of $ 600 or on any other day before the end of the campaign at a price of $ 830. It should be noted that Canonical does not plan to put the phone into mass production, so the phone of its kind will be unique and available only to those who bought it through Indiegogo.



32 million is quite a bold amount for fees which is allotted only one month. However, in less than a day, the phone has already quite successfully collected more than 3.3 million dollars (At the time of the creation of the topic, $ 250,000 had been collected).



If the crowdfunding is successful, the release of the smartphone is scheduled for May 2014.
