In Belarus, problems with access to Google

The customers of the largest Internet provider Belarus ByFly stopped working Google.

Beltelecom’s official commentary says that blocking access to the Google service from individual IP address intervals was related to Google’s security policy regarding spam mailings. There is an assumption that the problem arose after the transition of “ByFly” to the new scheme of IP-address distribution, which Beltelecom reported in May. But the transition was carried out in Minsk, and problems with access to Google were all over Belarus.

Rumor has it that some of the provider's subnets are in spam lists. Thus, the ByFly IP addresses are marked as dangerous, from which viral spam can be sent, in the Composite Blocking List and The Policy Block List databases.

Beltelecom reports that negotiations with Google are still ongoing, but the blockage has been lifted. However, many Belarusians still can not use it.
