Project completely free Smart Home

Hi, Habrasoobschestvo!

For more than 10 years now, I have had the idea to make such a project of the Smart House, so that anyone who wishes can, if they wish, assemble a complete prototype from scrap materials.
Most recently, when communicating with some representatives of the community, the idea was adjusted to the fact that it would not be bad to make a mass blog where everyone could leave their ideas about implementations (for this case today I even raised lifestreet on the subdomain of my personal domain, because I haven’t yet come up with a name for the project, taking into account its new specificity) + there’s a kind of repository of proven projects (on githubs. There’s already even a Gentoo layman repository for this business) + there’s a kind of exchange ’where people are far from soldering affairs, but barking a smart home, you might find someone who wants to earn a little more soldering solders in your city :).
An additional bonus would be to unite (whenever possible all) people involved in this subject “under one roof” to exchange ideas and experiences.

Until now, the “support group” consisted, exaggeratedly, of the “one and a half” anonymous radio electronics (working at various research institutes), scattered between IRC, Jabber and all other forums. Once there was a Wiki, but it so happened that she died.
')
In this regard, a set of radio electronics, theorists in terms of home automation and just sympathizers is announced.

Also, by the way, a competition is announced for a new name for the project. Until recently, he had the code name SHL (Smarty Home Linux), later, at the suggestion of his wife (as a kind of AI), he received the name Alex (in honor of my two sons and, moreover, consonant with Alice). However, neither the code name nor the name for personification of the house can not be the name of the project, I think :)

From the current developments of the project - basically a bunch of theory that will need to be resurrected from the back of the participants' memory, a bunch of programs for Atmel'ovskiy microcontrollers, a bunch of purchased sensors, a bunch of notes about the software related to the Home (my developments on neural networks (including the maintainers of several libraries associated with this), some kind of contact with the community by the authors of Sphinx and RHVoice (patches, reports, communication in IRC), several knee-length programs for monitoring and managing certain processes in the house) and the desire to bring it all to life .

Oh yeah, the most important thing is that the basic idea is also to make it modular (on both the iron and soft parts) so that for every “piece” there is at least one analogue “to taste”. In order not to dictate to anyone the vision of a smart home.
