North-West Telecom has carried optical fiber to Vologda, Kotlas and Syktyvkar

North-West Telecom has completed the construction of a fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) Vologda-Kotlas-Syktyvkar, Prime-TASS reported. FOCL passes through the territory of the Republic of Komi, Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions. The length of the new digital communication line is more than 1000 km: 598 km on the territory of the Vologda region, 200 km on the territory of the Arkhangelsk region and 216 km on the territory of the Komi Republic.

It is reported that the entire NWT invested about 300 million rubles in the construction of this section in 2005-2006 ... Having built the line, the company expects to improve the quality of intrazonal and local telephone communications in the northern regions of the North-West Federal District, as well as to provide residents of the region with the possibility of broadband access to Internet technology ADSL.

The FOCL "Vologda-Kotlas-Syktyvkar" is part of the fiber-optic infrastructure to create a unified inter-regional multiservice network / MSS / OJSC North-West Telecom, uniting the MSS central hub in St. Petersburg with regional MSS hubs in all regional centers of the North-West .
