The company Vobis Computer, which is actively developing its line of smartphones under the Highscreen brand, has released a budget and quite powerful device - Omega Q. The model attracts attention not only for its low price, but also for good performance for this price.

Moreover, the device has a rather popular Qualcomm chipset, and not Chinese MediaTek. Competitors among the devices that have been certified by RosTest have Highscreen Omega Q, of course, but everyone has some loss compared to this model. For example, the lack of support for two SIM or overpriced. Thus, we can safely say that Omega Q will easily find its customers among users who are interested in the cost of the device and the quality for it. What can boast a new model of the brand Highscreen? I propose to find out in our today's review.
▌ TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
As I already wrote, the smartphone got a quad-core Qualcomm 8225Q processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz, graphics Adreno 203, 1 GB of RAM and a small 4.5-inch IPS-screen with qHD resolution, as well as Android 4.1.2 and 5 megapixel camera with the ability to record video in HD. Another significant difference from some devices is the modified Android interface, which may be important for some users. In general, everything is as necessary for the model of the average price category.

▌ PACKING
The box from the device looks unusual. It is made of thick cardboard. The box informs about the internals of the model with the signatures of the modules and it is done quite nicely.

Sideways modestly but stylishly written device name.

On the reverse side has a QR code that allows you to quickly go to the official website of the company, barcode and various certification badges.

The box does not open, namely, it advances from the bottom, where the IMEI and the serial number are indicated.

Inside the box is divided into two parts, in one of them is a device.

And in the bottom, hidden separating cardboard, there are additional accessories. The package bundle is simply minimalist: it includes a charger with a detachable microUSB cable, simple in-ear headphones and traditional documentation: instructions and warranty card.

All information in the instructions in Russian. Documentation can be downloaded in
pdf format from the official site .
▌ DESIGN, DIMENSIONS, CONTROL ELEMENTS
In appearance, Highscreen Omega Q looks like a typical budget "android": a rectangle with slightly smoothed edges in black. On the front panel on top are located: front camera, speaker, light and proximity sensors.

Below the screen are four touch buttons: “Search”, “Back”, “Home” and a context menu. Symbols are applied on the case with white translucent paint. The backlight is white, dim. Just below is a microphone.

At the top there is a standard 3.5 mm audio output and a power button. Small and thin, almost recessed into the body, soft pressure.

The back side is made of glossy plastic. It is located on the camera and flash, and the bottom slot speaker. Unfortunately, the lid is rather quickly stained, and scratches are visible in the light. But the gloss of this device goes more than the Soft Touch. And there is one more minus - slight creaking when you press the cover slightly to the left of the camera.

At the bottom there is a microUSB without a stub.

On the right is the volume rocker. By the way, all over the body there is a belt in the form of a matte silver strip.

To remove the back cover, you must pry it by the notch in the bottom of the case. Removing it, we find two things: a removable 1600 mAh battery and three slots, one for microSD memory cards and two others for a SIM card.

In the hand it lies well thanks to the elongated screen, sloping edges and pleasant to the touch materials. You quickly get used to its small size. In general, the appearance and design of the Highscreen Omega Q are attractive, the quality of materials is average. Not cheap, not expensive, just good.
▌ DISPLAY
The smartphone uses not the largest to date screen diagonal 4.5 inches. The screen resolution of Highscreen Omega Q is standard for this screen size - 960x540 pixels, density - 240 pixels per inch. The screen has an oleophobic coating, with the fingers swiping, they do not stall, and this is a huge plus for the budget segment. Supports automatic brightness adjustment.

The characteristics indicate that the display is IPS. But in fact, the matrix type is TFT-TN. Supports "multitouch" up to five simultaneous touches.

But the viewing angles let us down, when the deviation backwards the colors fade, and if you tilt the screen towards yourself, the colors are inverted. With corners on the sides there is no problem.

As for the behavior in everyday life, the screen is quite good. The colors are quite saturated, pixelation is not very noticeable, and the average brightness is enough for use. In the light of the image on the display can be seen well, the sun fades slightly.

In general, a good screen, which lacks the maximum viewing angles and a little more contrast.
▌ CAMERAS
The smartphone has two cameras, the main one is 5 MP and the front one is 0.3 MP. You can easily remove the text from the device, but for those who like to photograph it is clearly not suitable. The maximum video resolution is 720 p. I will not give examples of pictures from the front camera, since this quality of photos will not allow you to show anything. But the rear shoots well enough.

The “Cameras” view has been slightly modified, but in general the settings are familiar to Android. Added the possibility of double recording (you can record from two cameras at the same time). The camera can take a picture if you press the volume down button. In Highscreen Omega Q, you can not change the resolution of the picture, only the aspect ratio: 4: 3 or 16: 9.

▌ SOFTWARE PLATFORM
At the moment, the smartphone operates on Android version 4.1.2. Of course, we plan to upgrade to 4.2, as far as I know, it should be released soon. By the way, downloading updates by "air" is supported. About 4.3 nothing is known, and is it necessary?

The Highscreen Omega Q interface has been changed and I would say that it looks better than the standard Jelly Bean design. The dock bar has changed, new widgets have been added, and the status bar has changed.

The icons of almost all standard applications have also been changed, interesting and beautiful wallpapers have been added, and the design of programs has also changed. Moreover, the design of icons and applications really looks very attractive.

The Highscreen Omega Q lock screen plays an important role in enhancing usability. Lockscreen allows you to not just unlock your smartphone, but immediately get access to some programs. If you start to hold the finger up on the lock screen, a list of icons from several applications will open: phone, messages, camera and unlock. Unfortunately, you cannot change the list of applications that can be accessed quickly.

There are not so many conveniences in the work of the two operator cards. In the settings there is the “SIM Settings” menu, where you can enable / disable a separate card and set network connection settings. You can also set the default SIM card to connect to the Internet. This is almost all that can be said about working with two sim. There are not many settings, the activity is switched in the application itself. For example, in Phone or SMS / MMS.

In practice, the result is not the most powerful smartphone today, but it copes with most everyday tasks. The modified interface does not slow down, there is a different animation from the manufacturer. Standard launcher works smoothly, without complaints.
Here I want to note that the issue of wireless standards, I have not had problems that require detailed coverage. The smartphone confidently holds the GSM connection, and Wi-Fi is consistently detected when there are concrete obstacles in the form of interior walls. GPS satellites catches fast. A cold start takes 2-3 minutes
▌ PRODUCTIVITY
Most of the budget Android-based smartphones operate on single-core or dual-core chipsets from the company MediaTek. The chip is cheap, the power consumption is low, and the performance is quite good. Many lightweight toys go without problems, videos are reproduced in resolutions up to 720p. BUT when I looked at the specifications of the Highscreen Omega Q, I was a little surprised that the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset was installed in it. However, later it turned out that although the chip belongs to the S4 generation, MSM8225 is considered the weakest in the class: 45 nm process technology, AMRv7 instruction set, 1.2 GHz maximum frequency (two cores ARM Cortex-A5), Adreno 203 graphics accelerator.

As well as it was supposed, the productive hardware platform allowed Highscreen Omega Q to occupy far from the last place in the rating among budget devices. Despite the fact that the hero of the review does not have the most powerful stuffing, the model showed a good result.

Gangstar Vegas will not be able to play comfortably in fancy games a la Gangstar Vegas, but, for example, Into the Dead without problems and excessive heating. Many of the already outdated toys like Dead Trigger run and work without any complaints.

Benchmarks, as can be seen in the screenshots above, are average. But Highscreen is not inferior to many smartphones in the smoothness of drawing the interface. Moreover, in general, the speed of the smartphone is more than good - simple videos, and not very heavy applications, and very fast camera work with the launcher - all this is there.
▌ BATTERY, CHARGING, TIME OF WORK
In AnTuTu Battery Tester Highscreen Omega Q scored an insignificant 305 points.

But with not much active use (about 2-3 hours a day listening to music, about a dozen calls, reading the news, searching the Internet, checking mail, Skype), the phone confidently lives for about two days.
▌ CONCLUSION
If you are considering buying an Android-smartphone in terms of good performance and support for two SIM-cards, given the average budget, then Highscreen Omega Q is suitable in all respects. Yes, there are competitors from Chinese manufacturers, but they are not very many with similar characteristics. Especially plays the role of a small screen size, because not everyone needs a "shovel." And, it seems to me, more fun to say that you have a smartphone on Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 than on MTK.
