RIA Novosti launched open data portal
RIA Novosti launched the beta version of the open data portal contained in the agency’s information systems.
Open data was posted on the portal opendata.ria.ru . They are structured, machine-readable and linked to other open databases. Currently, the portal provides information on large companies, international organizations, heads of state and businessmen, political parties, sports teams, the most discussed events and products in the market.

As stated in the project description, its main goal is “to create conditions for obtaining the maximum international, political, social and economic effect from the use of open data by citizens of Russia, the business community and other representatives of Russian society”.
RIA Novosti launched a portal with open data within the framework of the state policy on increasing the information transparency of the society. The agency creates and accumulates large amounts of information on various topics - from economics and politics to science and ecology. Every day, about five thousand materials of various formats are published in the agency.
The Open Data Council began work in March 2013. It was created under the Open Government to ensure the availability of information from government agencies in a form suitable for automatic processing. At a meeting of the council on July 15, representatives of various departments told which data sets they had made available to the public.
