There are many sites on which rating, karma, energy, etc. are calculated for users (hereinafter simply referred to as rating). On many of them, the user rating may be lower than the original (the one that was received during registration). Examples: Habr, torrents.ru, and others (write in the comments, what else you know, if not difficult). And because of the low rating of people, opportunities on the portal decrease.
Why is that bad?Because as soon as the user has limited opportunities, and raising the rating is not a matter of 2 minutes - the user often wants to register a new account (I’m doing this, my friends do it). Fortunately, there are all sorts of trashmails and other sites that allow you to make temporary emails - after all, this is the only thing that at least prevents you from registering a new account quickly - for many uninformed users, registering an email is a long and tedious process. But I moved away from the topic. The fact is that users register new accounts, users are littered with portals.
Do I need to deal with this?On the one hand, no. If the creators do not care about the pollution of the database - then you can not solve the problem. After all, what is the use of such a principle - users do not register a new account very quickly, perhaps even this happens rarely - I honestly do not know.
On the other hand, all this proves that there is no point in lowering the rating below the default.
')
So if this is a problem, how to solve? The idea of the solution is:
below zero (or any default value) rating does not fall.
For example, on Habré - you can comment with any rating. So why lower it?
On torrents - another case. If the rating falls (which means you don’t distribute torrents), then you can’t download it. Hmm ... You can make the initial download speed slow (with a rating of 0). And slower will not be. And if the user is young, then the rating is higher and the speed is higher.
What to do with very bad users?Like on Habré, very bad users (mat, advertising, spam, etc. - depending on the rules of the portal) - ban by ip. The problem is of course dynamic addresses and public computers - I do not know what can be done with this.
so!
as a result of ...
What does this give?Portals do not clog. Users have no incentive to register a new account. The user never gets into a situation when his stay on the portal becomes absolutely terrible - i.e. the user does not become very deprived of rights.
Your comments I am writing to habra people, and therefore your opinion is the main thing for me. All the attention!
