Microsoft starts paying rewards for bugs found in its products

Last month, Microsoft announced the launch of a program to exchange information about bugs in the company's products for money. So far we are talking mainly about bugs in Internet Explorer 11, a preliminary version of the browser. Already announced the first winner of the payment program, which was Invan Fratrich.

This specialist last year was marked on Microsoft BlueHat, taking second place. This year, Fratrich found vulnerabilities in the new browser of the corporation, for which he was awarded a prize. It is clear that while the corporation is in no hurry to disclose data on the found vulnerabilities / vulnerabilities. But it is already known that the information provided by Fratrich is confirmed, and the reward awaits its beneficiary.

It is worth recalling that within the framework of the remuneration payment program, a special “grid” of payments was created. Depending on the type of detected vulnerability, the amount of the payout will also be assigned. For example, a vulnerability that allows you to create a fully functional exploit to bypass the product security system at the platform level itself will be the most “expensive”. Anyone who discovers such a vulnerability will receive a large sum of up to 100 thousand dollars.

By the way, in addition to the browser payout program, two other programs have been announced that address the detection of vulnerabilities with the creation of exploits for Windows 8.1, as well as the development of new ways to block known technologies to create exploits for the platform.
