High density 48xRJ45 panel overview from AMP Netconnect (TE connectivity)

High-density port panels (36-48 per 1U) are rarely used in the design and construction of classic SCS for office space, since standard 24xRJ45 is cheaper, easier to install and operate.

The panels with high density of ports are remembered only when the space in the cabinet is strictly limited, or it is sorely lacking.

The panel in question is a type of “typesetting” and is free from the inherent flaws in panels with connectors placed on a printed circuit board, such as:

• The inconvenience of installation (high contact density; termination can often be performed only after the bundle of cables is put into the cabinet)
• Accidental damage to the printed circuit board during installation, which leads to the failure of the entire connector block
• Low installation speed



Let's begin the review with a picking of the switching panel. In the box are:
• keypad frame with removable inserts for 8 HD SL connectors
• removable cable support panel
• 48 connectors of type HD SL RJ45 category 5e and 48 cable clamps to them
• removable marking strips
• fasteners (bolts M6, M5), installation instructions



Removable inserts keep on snaps, easily removed and mounted in place. The cable support shelf is also easily detached. The design of the panel allows you to break the installation process into several stages, both in time and in the actions performed.



You can form separate bundles of cables, mount the connectors (this can be done before the cable goes into the cabinet) and bring the finished cable assemblies into the “windows” of the pre-installed panel frame.

Then go to the front of the cabinet, snap the connectors into the inserts, insert into the panel. At the last stage, install a cable support shelf and marking strips.





Separate attention deserve the connectors. They differ from standard modules of the SL type in the way of fastening but, most importantly, they retain compatibility with the AMP SL tool (0-1725150-1), which provides simultaneous termination of all 8 conductors with trimming of surplus.

To unify the design of fasteners with standard modules, developers, unfortunately, failed. I had to sacrifice for the sake of high capacity. This is probably the only drawback of the product. Although you can not demand that, apparently, did not plan to implement.

Those tasks that were set before the developers, namely, to create an easy-to-install, functional panel for unshielded systems of category 5e, 6 with a density of 48 ports per 1U - are implemented at 100%.

Summarizing all the above, we can say with confidence that this product can be used in the design of competitive, correct, and most importantly - beautiful cable systems
