Linux in an organization ...

Often, when discussing the possibility of installing Linux in a small business, everything depends on the problems of running 1C programs under it and so on. However, there is a simple, elegant, though not free, way around this problem — terminal access. Linux is installed on all jobs with the possibility of terminal access. On one computer - terminal server screw. Need 1C - we climb into the terminal and work, while still working quickly, without driving DBFs over the network. Everything else, mail, documents, the Internet is already free under Linux ...
Of course, the cost of Microsoft Windows Terminal Server is quite high and can cover all the benefits of the introduction of Linux, but - there are options ...

So, since it’s all the same not to leave Windows, it remains only to minimize the costs of a system with support for terminal access. To work, you need a licensed Windows XP Pro, on which we set all the tasks that require only Windows. Then there are two options:
  1. Semi-legal way: Winda hacks using this algorithm . After that, you can climb at the same time multiple terminals. Whether the verifying organization will be able to detect this hack and what can be awarded for it is a difficult question ... But at least most of the software in the company will be absolutely legitimate * ...
  2. The legal way: the program XP Unlimited for 145 euros turns XP Pro into a RDP server for 10 competing clients. For 455 euros - without restrictions on customers. For anyone it is cheaper than a full-fledged server from Microsoft. By the way, there is a demo version that allows for non-commercial purposes to divide one XP Pro computer into three clients - for example, one locally and two remotely. You can install in the home, for example, to connect the old company to the resources of the new one.

* Absolutely legitimate - recently, in connection with the new legislation, the legality of the GPL license in Russia is being questioned, but I very much hope that this nonsense will be corrected after all ...
