I think Radmin needs no introduction, and it must have had many adherents, among whom, until recently, I was, while all the workstations of our networks worked under Widows XP.
But having received computers from Vista, it turned out that the Radmin 2.2 server (the one that was available) connects to whist, but due to the absence of MirrorDriver, a black screen is displayed instead of the desktop when connected.
Since we didn’t have a radmin server, and no one allowed us to purchase a license, we had to look for alternative solutions.
When reviewing the remote administration tools, there were quite a lot of diverse and interesting products, but the choice was on
UltraVNC to which all advantages was added the most important - GNU license.

In addition to the usual functions (controlling a remote computer, transferring files, sending text messages) UltraVNC has several features: the ability to connect to a remote computer using a browser, blocking the mouse and keyboard of a user of a remote computer when connected, the ability to block a computer when disconnected from it (for servers, hiding tray icon and much more
Disadvantage:
—Not installed as a service automatically

The viewer however has a significant drawback - the lack of an address book, i.e. The ip-address of the computer to which you want to connect, you have to re-enter each time. Provided that about a hundred computers work in our network, it’s simply impossible to remember the ip-addresses of all, it would be too inconvenient to work.

But there was a solution, in the form of a separate program
UltraVNC AddressBook , which really required for the work of the
.NET Framework and, accordingly, the installed UltraVNC
The address book
In terms of functionality, it is not inferior to the radmin, and does not differ much, unless there is a convenient opportunity to save the password for connection.
The disadvantages include occasional troubles with layouts when cracks are printed on a remote machine or layouts are not switched. The forums say that this happens if the keyboard layout is different on the client and the server at the time of connection.
But in general, it seemed to me that UltraVNC is a worthy alternative to Radmin, which is not inferior in capabilities and convenient to use.
