The purpose of the flight was the intersection of the continental United States from the east to the west coast. The flight was made by two pilots, Andre Borschberg and Bertrand Piccard.

True, it was not without problems - for example, as a result of damage to the skin (crack) on the left wing, I had to sit three hours ahead of time. But what is three hours if the flight has been done for many weeks? The total length of the path of the aircraft in the end was about five thousand kilometers. This flight was not nonstop, the plane made intermediate landing in Phoenix (Arizona), Dallas (Texas), St. Louis (Missouri), Cincinnati (Ohio).

It is worth recalling that the Solar Impulse weighs about one and a half tons, and the wingspan of the aircraft is 64.3 meters. The total power of the four electric motors - 7 kilowatts, powered by energy from lithium batteries. And yes, Solar Impuls accumulates energy only during flight.
