Hackers from abroad tried to steal a priority scientific development from a computer network of one chemical research institute of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. However, security officers were able to prevent the attack. Information by criminals was obtained in the interests of foreign research organizations, Interfax reports .
The possible damage from the kidnapping could have amounted to $ 100 million. In addition, some of the scientific materials of the institute located in the attacked local network were not patented. Information leakage was interrupted while hackers attempted to copy these materials.
It is reported that interest in the development of the Institute had previously shown in China, Korea, the United States. Security services note that about 5-6 hacker attacks are being committed annually to scientific organizations in Novosibirsk.
