What will happen to Firefox?
Firefox OS took a place in the niche of cheap smartphones and predicted success. And this “success” began with sales of Geeksphone Peak (in more detail ), which, in truth, were sold out in a matter of hours. But, as it seems to me, there will be no success: the OS is not suitable for everyday use. You can say that the first version of Android was also miserable, but, my friends, 2013 is the year.
Just the other day, ZTE presented the Open model , a phone that runs on Firefox OS and costs 69 euros. Russian media outlets call this a “ revolutionary new product, ” although in reality there is nothing revolutionary about it. As for me, the new Nokia Asha is better.
Probably my first hour with a Peak phone was cool: a new OS, a new manufacturer. After misting with joy, sad reality came. Firefox OS is still far behind the needs of users, it’s not very nice and very braking interface, and I don’t see the potential in Boot2Gecko at the moment. But how beautiful it all began ...
PS
In addition, dear residents of Habr, please respond to a survey about which of the new mobile OS you think will be the most popular over the next 2-3 years? Personally, I now use Ubuntu Phone on my Nexus 4, it is already possible to work, but in the everyday use they give up their nerves, but for me it is this OS that will become the leader among beginners, as it is the most UI-friendly and has a lot to itself. And, theoretically, a bunch of applications were written for it, and all that was left was to “fit”.
