Choosing a calendar

Compare Google Calendar (beta), Yandex Calendar (beta), iCal. In principle, not comparable things online and offline applications, but still, here are a couple of pros and cons:

iCal :
+ the ability to easily connect birthdays, anniversaries from Address Book;
+ the ability to automatically do some routine things using Automator (for example, connecting to servers, downloading files, automatically sending birthday greetings, I'm not interested in those, etc.);
+ integrated with Mail, starting with Leopard;
- there are a lot of plug-in calendars (for example: “Russian Holidays”, schedule of various sports games, etc., but unfortunately did not find “Not working days in the Russian Federation”, I had to manually score them);
- No SMS alerts, a very nice thing for those who do not use the iPhone;
+ Needless to say good with iPod, iPhone
(unfortunately .Mac there is no account to see what he can do yet)

Google Calendar :
+ works very fast;
- there are not very many connected calendars (like iCal, there is no “Not working days” calendar, but there is a pleasant “Lunar phases” calendar);
- there is no possibility to create an event that repeats every n> 14 days (for girls, critical days can no longer be written as easy as a recurring event);
+ in the calendar, you can make links to Google Maps - nice;
- of all, it has the most beautiful, in my opinion, view
+ SMS sends faster than Yandex (in any case, I thought so)

Yandex Calendar :
+ it is well integrated with the Yandek-Sovisky Poster and the TV program (although I don’t have to watch the TV for 2 years);
+ in appearance is very simple and easy;
- there is no possibility to create your calendars (“work”, “house”, etc.);
- does not work with birthdays from the Yandex mail address book;
- there is no possibility to create recurring events;
- connection of high-quality ready-made calendars is absent, only through blogs and only one event using the button:

although for spontaneous events, such as gathering of Habralyuds, the solution is normal, unless, of course, Habranorod uses the Yandex Calendar.

By the way, I was pleased that the hCalendar microformat is exactly the same as the iCalendar format used in Apple iCal. But, unfortunately, the generated code with the help of hCalendar Creator can not be sucked anywhere (see the example below):

January 10th - 11th, 2008 Khabraskhodka– at Moscow, Gazetny per., 9, building 2 Khabraskhodka people in MoscowTags: Meetings This hCalendar event .

And yet, neither Yandex Calendar, nor Google Calendar send SMS-messages, in case the event has already passed, and you changed the SIM-card for a while. I celebrated the New Year in Kiev, I returned - not a single notification about past events.
