In various forums on the theme of “Opera vs another browser,” there are a lot of reasons why the Norwegian browser is better than similar programs. Meanwhile, it would be interesting to know what the developers themselves think about it. And now there is such an opportunity: Ian Standal and Chris Mills gave an interview to the online edition of Digital Web, which briefly outlined the pros and cons of the most popular browsers, and also vividly proved why Opera is still cooler;)
The main theses are.
Safari is all good, but you can criticize, perhaps, for the lack of customizability under the whim of the user.
Firefox is also a good browser, but the system of extensions, praised by many, carries with it some rather serious flaws in the form of weak security and irrational use of the computer’s RAM.

Internet Explorer is just Internet Explorer. And that's it. Of course, one cannot but agree that IE-7 is the best version of this browser ever to exist, and if IE-8 really supports web standards, then there will be a song in general, but all this is unknown in the future, how everything goes in the end.
As for Opera, the developers include three properties to the pluses: first, the small size, high speed and optimization of the use of RAM; secondly, availability on virtually any platform and device; thirdly - full support for a larger number of web standards than other browsers.
By cons of the Opera browser, its authors attributed the underdevelopment of the version for MacOSX, as well as the lack of tools for web developers, allowing them to hone their work without leaving the browser. However, Jan and Chris said that by the middle of the year these omissions will be eliminated: Opera will catch up with other versions, and web developers will have at their disposal well-developed development and debugging tools. Summarizing all the above and adding a noticeably “forced” engine in Opera-9.5, it becomes clear why Opera is the best choice to date.
