A proposal has been selected to work on improving GNOME accessibility.

The GNOME Foundation Council is pleased to announce that after accepting applications for GNOME accessibility , the Spanish company Igalia was chosen to perform the work.

We received an excellent proposal from Igalia with a detailed analysis of the current state of accessibility of documents for users with disabilities in GNOME and a comprehensive plan to achieve the expected results.
This option was considered a committee of volunteers who actively participated in the work on the accessibility of GNOME, but not as not related to any of the proposals. A committee made up of people like David Bolter, Mike Drok, Juanjo Marin, Joseph Schuhammer and John Walicki (born David Bolter, Mike Gorse, Juanjo Marín, Joseph Scheuhammer and John Walicki) presented their recommendations to the board of directors of the fund, which then voted for the application with the subsequent withdrawal from all substantial discussions on this issue. The full sentence was posted on the GNOME wiki.

“” This was a great honor to take part in a volunteer committee and collaborate with this group of first-class accessibility professionals. We all agree that Igalia has a great offer, and we are confident that they have the knowledge and experience to successfully solve the problem of supporting accessibility to PDF, ”said Juanjo Marin, member of the GNOME Accessibility Team and manager of the IT department of the Andalusian Public Council in the Department of Culture and sports in Cadiz, Spain.

Alejandro Pinheiro Iglesias, Carlos García Campos and Juanmarie Dighs (used by Alejandro Piñeiro Iglesias, Carlos García Campos and Joanmarie Diggs) will be the main developers working on the project. They are experienced developers in all technologies and components, including Poppler, Evince, ATK, AT-SPI2 and Orca, which ensure that GNOME gets the support of special features that many users expect.

The GNOME Foundation would like to thank all the GNOME friends who donated the accessibility company and the Mozilla Corporation for funding this work.
