The administration of VKontakte with the attackers blocking popular communities

Communities on the social network VKontakte have become a very profitable business for a long time, the most popular of them have millions of subscribers and hundreds of thousands of rubles of income per month, which many independent sites can envy.

The main source of monetization is advertising posts. The administration of VKontakte even plans to launch an exchange of advertising posts in order to introduce the same for all the rules of the game and earn money on commission. However, while this did not happen, the attackers take advantage of the situation.

According to “Zuckerberg will call”, the scheme is as follows: community administrators are offered to place an ad on the site (for example, about a group concert in St. Petersburg or about selling hamsters), and then changing the contents of the resource so that its advertising is banned by VK rules (for example, about selling votes in VK), take a screenshot and require money from the community administration, otherwise threatening to send screenshots to tech support.

This is exactly what happened to the most famous MDK community, which placed an advertisement on the page about the concert of the New Order group in St. Petersburg, and a few hours later noticed a forgery - VK voices were sold on that page.

Community administrators immediately removed ads and notified VC tech support of what had happened, however this did not save them - the public was blocked for an indefinite time. The position of the VC administration here is not entirely clear: despite the fact that it recognizes the absence of intent from the MDK, the community has so far been forced to switch to mobile applications and other publics.

Prior to this, the victim was the community For men, the administrator of which published all the correspondence with fraudsters. In general, according to this scheme, almost ten of the most popular communities with 17 million total subscribers were blocked.
