An international team of scientists, including specialists from Canada and Germany, was able to create the most detailed three-dimensional model of the brain, which is likely to be able to help in studying the activities of this organ. This
model is available (and completely free) for everyone. They collected it, what is called, piece by piece, scanning the shares of the real human brain just 20 microns thick. In total, there were 7,400 such units.
As a result, scientists obtained a 3D image of the brain, which is 200 times more accurate than any of the existing alternative models. To achieve this accuracy, the human brain was placed in paraffin, then using a
microtome, the brain was divided into very thin lobes, only 20 microns thick (as indicated above). Each part was scanned, and then the resulting images were combined.
')
Now scientists are planning to repeat their achievement, creating three-dimensional models of the brain of several more people, in order to understand what kind of "types" of the brain can be.
In order to see the model with your own eyes, you need to register by the
link , after which you can work with the image for free (well, or not to work, but just to see. Perhaps some specialist will be able to discover something very interesting that will allow him / her to do the next amazing discovery.
