The unexpected popularity of TinyRSS.ru
When I wrote the previous article , I did not expect such a huge interest from the Habr community. It seemed to me that a maximum of two hundred people would be interested in the TinyRSS.ru service. Meanwhile, at the moment, more than 5 thousand people have already registered in the service! Such an interest was a big surprise, and moreover, I was completely unprepared for this. Within a few days, after placing the article, the service came down from habraeffekt, and after another two weeks, someone on it coached their ddos bots. I had to first rent a dedicated server, exclusively for service, and then rent another server, more powerful.
Also, I spent many days optimizing the server so that it could withstand the influx of volunteers. At the moment, on the server, I completely abandoned apache and instead, the nginx + php-fpm bundle works successfully and only solid-state drives are used (there are 4 of them now).
There are problems that have not yet been resolved. So, for example, everyone’s favorite LiveJournal has already blocked my server’s IP several times, for too often accessing their service. This problem has not yet been solved. As an option, I see a solution to this problem in using a proxy when accessing their servers. With this post, I would also like to thank the people who supported the project financially. Thanks to you, you managed to rent a new powerful server, which is currently working successfully. Thank you very much! And also on the advice of Igor , the option of opening a paid subscription is considered (with preservation and the free version) in order to ensure proper quality of service, since unfortunately the donate does not cover all costs.
And as always, I am open to your wishes for improving the service and will try to implement them as much as I can.
