Babuino: 25-dollar USB-device for connecting a smartphone as a keyboard / mouse / camera

The development team introduced the Babuino project, which is a USB device that allows you to connect your smartphone to a PC / laptop / other devices as a peripheral device. By "peripheral device" is meant a wireless mouse, keyboard, game controller, or camera. In addition, there is a reverse possibility: for example, from the laptop keyboard to type text in any application of the smartphone itself. For its project, the team hopes to collect 40 thousand dollars.

As indicated in the title, the price of such a device will be $ 25, but only for the first customers. When Babuino begins to produce massively, the price will rise to $ 35.

The device is based on the Atmel ATXMEGA128A1 microcontroller, and includes a USB port, Bluetooth and infrared communication modules. Among other things, the board is compatible with Arduino. At the moment there are two varieties of Babuino. The first one is structurally reminiscent of a USB stick (Babuino Stick), and the second is a bare board with the ability to connect external devices (Babuino Board).

Now there are many applications for connecting a smartphone to a laptop / PC as a peripheral device. But Babuino allows you to do all this without using additional drivers and software.

More information about the project is available here .
