Two-handed mobile robotic platform

The two-handed mobile robotic platform (BDRP, also known as Robo-Sally) was developed by the Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) of the Johns Hopkins University in Laurel, Maryland. This robotic system is designed to reproduce the human capabilities for safely removing a performer from life-threatening operations. The platform has two modular prostheses developed by APL ( http://www.jhuapl.edu/prosthetics ) under the DARPA revolutionary prosthesis program, which was introduced at 60 Minutes (CBS News), National Geographic and Popular Mechanics. The BDRP has 42 degrees of freedom (17 in each limb, three in the torso, three in the neck, and two in the mobile platform).

This video is a compilation of some supposed scenarios that reveal the capabilities of this system.

')
1. Disposal of an improvised explosive device (IED): The BDRP is controlled by a cameraman to examine the location of the intended IED, identify and remove the fuse, and leave the neutralized device from the site.

2. Vehicle search: The BDRP is controlled by a cameraman to study and interact with the load at the rear of the vehicle, including removing obstacles, opening the container, and interacting with the target object and removing it.

3. Perimeter monitoring: The BDRP is controlled by a cameraman for detouring and perimeter security, monitoring and removing objects that cause disturbances in a pressure-sensitive security fence.

4. Checkpoint for vehicles: The BDRP is operated by a cameraman to perform checkpoints that include the direction of the vehicle, an external inspection of the vehicle, interaction with the driver through gestures, the definition of a tenant and the provision of travel.

5. Platform Mobility: The BDRP is controlled by a cross-country cameraman to demonstrate maneuvering capabilities.

HDT Robotics, Synbotics and Silvus Technologies also took part in this project.

ps: This post is, like, a mini-translation, but it cannot be called a translation either. Therefore, I left the usual post.
