Today, January 7, as promised, the
Wikia Search search engine was launched, though only in the alpha version. (
Editing Angela Beesley at 06:58 UTC or 09:58 Moscow time.)
From the observed errors: when searching in Russian (for example, by the word
Habrahabr ) errors occur with encoding, although everything seems to be in utf-8.
Users who have an account on Wikia can log in with the same login, but user
properties have flown in both Wikia Search Alpha and on the Wikia website itself.

About search: when searching (for now only English queries), you can create miniarticles. Next to the search result indicates a number like 1.26 (something like a pagerank or a CY), when clicked, it shows how it was calculated. When you hover on this number next to the stars are shown, which are not yet working (it seems that the rating will be implemented results). It is not yet clear how the results are ranked, because when querying "
George Bush ", the site "George Bush is a Crackwhore!" With a rank of 1.26 comes out first, although the sites with a lower rank and a greater one are below, in general order is incomprehensible. Well, I think they will fix it.
In your
profile, you can specify information about yourself (personal data, job data, etc.), upload your photos (as well as merge photos into albums),
add friends and set a status message. Is this a habit of something like a new social network?
In general, the impression is not yet clear: a very good idea, but no results. However, this is not even a beta, so we have no right to find fault with it. And you can report errors
right now .
