In connection with
this post, and with attempts to choose WM for an old computer with a freshly installed FreeBSD, I remembered one old, but still interesting thing. Or rather,
BlackBox is a lightweight window manager, like two drops of sparkling water, similar to all the other * boxes, and at the same time so open-source, and cross-platform, that there is even for Windows ...
So, the blackbox is a complete, lightweight, and very flexible replacement for the Windows shell. For those who have not communicated with him before, it may seem rather inconvenient, but these are only first impressions, and after getting used to it it starts to seem that it is more convenient and impossible to think up.
BlackBox provides us with:- Multiple desktops.
- Improved window management.
- Quick access to programs. The analogue of the start menu is called by right-clicking on any point on the desktop.
- Getting rid of shortcuts clogging your desktop. Now everything fits in the drop down menu.
- Full flexibility and customization options. - Thousands of styles of design in the network, plus the ability to easily create your own. All styles and parameters are configured in understandable config files.
- Countless plugins of various uses.
- It is absolutely free!
- And weighs only 140 kb!
For starters, I throw a couple more clickable screenshots:

plug-ins - a great many

BlackBox itself is a BBlean build, easy and pleasant, there are not many plug-ins, so there is room for creativity!
PS BlackBox is suitable in the first place, lovers of poking around, and customize everything by hand, and by yourself. Also, I think * nix lovers, it will be more pleasant to see it as a WM under Windows.
PPS in white letters. In fact, this post is a practice of marketing :) Attempting to interest the public, not actually interested in the product ...
Hello! =)
