The Moscow Arbitration Court on Friday rejected the claim of CJSC RosBusinessConsulting (RBC) for the recovery from CJSC Business News Media (the publisher of the Vedomosti newspaper ) 286 million rubles of compensation for copyright infringement. As the correspondent of RIA “Novosti” reports, during the hearings of the case, the court refused to “Vedomosti” the petition for bringing as the witness the general director of RBC Yuri Rovensky. RBC was also denied a petition for linguistic examination of the disputed materials.
Recall that in July of this year, RosBusinessConsulting appealed to the Arbitration Court of the city of Moscow with a claim to CJSC Business News Media. The lawsuit was filed in response to the illegal, according to RBC, reproduction, distribution and processing of articles borrowed from the RBC news and analysis agency’s paid information and analytical tape from 2002 to 2005. RBC claims that there were 130 cases of illegal use of information, and 50 of them were the subject of a lawsuit.
According to Mikhail Dubik, General Director of Business News Media, the purpose of the RBC claim is to “distract public attention” from the claim of its publication to this news agency and delay its consideration. “Their goal is to make such a“ mirror ”lawsuit and create an impression among the audience that this lawsuit is equal to that of Vedomosti against them,” said Dubik.
