Hiding the entire comment thread if the parent is hidden
Read here comments to the article about the experience on Mamba . There are a lot of comments, and there are answers, but afterwards they are mined and hidden. At the very end of these three or four, maybe five and even more, but it does not matter. The important thing is that if the parental comment has already been replaced by “UFO flew in and posted this inscription here.”, What is the use of the answers? In my opinion, no, they just clutter up the place and confuse ... Here is an example, I even picked everything out and showed it :) The answer is not clear :)
In general, the idea is as follows: if the parental comment is mined, then do not display the rest of the branch well, or hide it under the “open comment”, as is done with the “insufficiently” mined topics. If this is put into practice, it will be much "easier" in topics with tons of offtopic. But this is of course only my IMHO :)
