Installing the NVIDIA Vidyah driver in Ubuntu 7.10

Here I will tell you how to install the driver on NVIDIA cards quickly and without problems. In general, everyone is advised to install pens - I propose to use a cool tool called "Envy". She is the best way to properly install firewood (at least I haven’t yet seen any glitches), IMHO.

• Download Envy prog: http://albertomilone.com/nvidia_scripts1.html
• MANDATORY !!! Backing up X configurations: cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.mybackup
• When you start Envy, we delete the existing drivers (“Uninstall NVIDIA Driver”).
• If you ask for a reboot, we do.
• We go again in Envy. Now install the driver (you need to connect to an Internet, because the installation program will download the necessary packages).
• We recline on the back of the chair and wait for the end of the installation.
• Reboot.
• Reboot and select recovery mode in the GRUB menu.
• Perform cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf.mybackup /etc/X11/xorg.conf
• Rebuild again and install as needed.
  
  Proponents of the console do not hit hard :) - this method is "housewife-compatible" ... but like Ubuntu itself.
