In France, the pirate file sharing service was turned off for the first time ... three years after the adoption of the anti-piracy law

On the logic of the actions of "defenders of copyright" you can write novels and, probably, serious scientific articles. On Habré many times already described the actions of these comrades, which, incidentally, are sometimes effective. For example, in some countries, anti-piracy laws, according to which the malicious file sharing service provider must disconnect from the network, after a certain number of warnings. Such laws were introduced in France, USA, UK. Large funds were spent on lobbying for these laws, including not only money, but also man-hours. But are the laws passed effective? This can be judged by how often criminals are disconnected from the web. For example, in France this happened for the first time after the adoption of the Three Strikes / HADOPI law. And three years have passed.

“Pirate”, for distribution of one or two files protected by copyright, will be disconnected from the Network for two weeks, plus they will make you pay a fine of 600 euros. If the appeal is not filed within 10 days, the user, as mentioned above, will be disconnected from the Network for 15 days. True, the shutdown is still not complete. The provider will have to provide e-mail, IM-messengers and VoIP-services for this user.

By the way, the scheme by which the implementation of HADOPI works has been recognized by those who lobbied this law as ineffective. After carrying out the relevant statistical calculations, it became clear that the growth of profits from the work of legal services selling films, music, games and other content, after the adoption of the mentioned law, did not happen. Those who rocked the "pirate", and continue to do so, and so far no changes in the current situation is not expected.

It may well be that after a while the law itself will be abolished. Well, or replace it with something more effective than incomplete disconnection from the network for two weeks and a fine. Now the French government is already considering a version of the new law, according to which, file-lovers who will be found to distribute copyright-protected files will be punished with a ruble (or, more precisely, the euro). At the same time, fines will be charged automatically, at 60 euros for a violation, with the possibility of increasing the amount of the fine in case of repeated violations.

Of course, all this is served with a sauce to protect the interests of Internet users themselves.
