The popularity of this or that browser is quite difficult to determine: someone counts web site visitors, someone - the number of downloads from the official website of developers. I will allow myself to add another indicator to the piggy bank - the popularity of articles devoted to the browser. In particular, such statistics are annually published by Computerra Online magazine. According to these data, for the second year in a row, articles from the RTFM section, which describe various tricks to work with the Opera browser, are much more popular with readers compared to similar notes on other browsers. Last year (2006), by a large margin from articles on other browsers, the lead story about Opera customization using opera: config was leading, and last 2007, the total number of views and votes in Opera articles ranking was far behind all competitors. Of course, this data cannot be considered absolutely objective, but the trend is good. At the very least, the myth that Opera is less customizable than the same open-source Firefox has once again been debunked.
