Is Apple's Keyboard Optimus a Killer?

According to the hrmpf website (and MacRumors after it), Apple has submitted a patent No. 2008/0001787 called “Dynamically controlled keyboard” for a keyboard, each key of which is an OLED display with a control circuit controlled by software that allows display an arbitrary character on the key.
