Everyone talks about how much developers are needed and how they are lacking. When we started to count our index, we also thought so. The reality was a bit more complicated and interesting: developers want, yes. But - not all the same.
We present our first rating of demand for specialists.

Data on the labor market, in other markets, the situation is probably different. But tenders are still interesting.
Supply and demand

Front-end developers are the hottest: on average, each of them received 4+ job offers, some got 10+.
The outsiders were managers, and for some reason, Ruby / Rails. It is possible that in our sample there are few rubists or employers who are looking for them (more on this below). PHP, Java, .NET professionals are most of all, but they are not as hot as JavaScript, QA, or iOS developers.

Most "hot" - Middle developers with a salary of $ 1500-2300. Specialists $ 3,500 + are more in demand than Juniors: 2.04 proposals for candidate vs 1.6.

An amazing imbalance in the $ 3,500 + range, you will not see this on any other chart.

The main demand is for workers in the $ 1500- $ 3500 range. Unlike Java, the $ 3,500 + dotnetchiki are of little interest to anyone.

The demand for C ++ specialists is more or less balanced. They want everyone. In the range of $ 1000-3500 per developer, there are on average 2.5 offers.

There are few candidates. We need everyone and everything. 6 candidates with salary expectations of $ 1500-2300 received an average of 8.6 sentences each, $ 2500- $ 3500 slightly less - 4.5 offers.

PHP developers employers want to uniformly "everyone", from junior to signor. PHP programmers with a price of $ 3,500 + do not seem to exist for both candidates and employers.

An unexpected “failure” in middles - they want either developers “up to $ 1500”, or “$ 2500 and above”. As with other PHP / JavaScript "scripting" languages, $ 3,500 "does not exist" specialists.
Here is a statistic. In the future we hope to expand it to other cities, but for now your opinion is very interesting. What is missing? How to make the index more accurate? How does the index look like your own grades?
How was considered
At
Jinna, developers describe their experience and salary expectations and receive offers from specific employers. This allowed us to collect statistics that are not available on regular work sites.
The rating is limited to a sample of Kiev (it is the most representative) and only candidates for a full day in the office (excluding freelancers, remote work, etc.). Under the "offer" was considered a message from the employer with a description of a particular job sent to the user Jeann. Those. This is a not-yet-signed employment contract, but an employer's interest in a particular development, with a specific set of skills and salary expectations.
