Intel has introduced the fastest "Thunderbolt flash drive" in the world

At the Computex technology exhibition held in Taipei, Intel presented a very interesting device, a drive, which itself characterized as the “world's fastest thumb drive”. This is something like a flash drive, only the device connects to the Thunderbolt port, and works faster than any USB flash drive.

And no wonder, since the Thunderbolt technology provides for data transfer at a speed of 10 Gbit / s, which is much faster than in the case of USB 3.0, and, of course, USB 2.0. USB 3.0 allows you to transfer data at a speed of about 5 Gbps. Well, on the verge of already Thunderbolt 2.0, with the potential to transfer data at a speed of 20 Gbit / s. Inside the “flash drive” developers have placed the SSD SanDisk.

Now there are not so many devices equipped with a Thunderbolt interface, and those that are equipped require an expensive optical or copper cable of the appropriate standard to connect the Thunderbolt peripherals. As for the "Thunderbolt flash drive", then to connect it does not require a cable, it connects directly to the connector.

It is worth noting that Thunderbolt supports PCI-Express 2.0 data transfer, as well as DisplayPort.

Intel is also developing a low-power Thunderbolt for transferring data from mobile devices to external devices. Unfortunately, neither the release date of the device described above, nor its possible price has yet been reported. We must think that a device with a 128 GB SSD drive inside will obviously not be cheap. Although, the "sales" version of the device has not yet been presented, so it is too early to judge.
