Ubuntu Phone already supports internet connection, social apps, calls and more
At one time, Habré was glad to meet the news that Ubuntu has now moved to smartphones. Of course, what Canonical developers showed in January was still poorly suited for daily work; rather, these were the outline of the main project. Since then, many builds have already been released, now they are updated every day, and with each update, Ubuntu Phone OS becomes more and more "skillful." Now this OS is already suitable for daily use on a smartphone, good, supported by phone calls (which was not at the beginning), connection to the Network via a cellular network, work with social applications.
I must say, the developers have tried their best to “screw” all this. Demonstration of work with a cellular network was conducted on the example of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus , with the installed Ubuntu Phone OS . However, before you connect to the network using this OS, you need to work a bit with the terminal. And yes, there is no GUI for this yet, although for some geeks this can only be a plus. ')
Among other things, the developers added the ability to share information with their friends / acquaintances in social networks. Of course, social sharing will not surprise anyone now, but this function cannot be superfluous.
A 10-minute video has already been posted on YouTube, with a demonstration of almost all of the current capabilities of the system, including making phone calls, sending / receiving sms, a browser, and third-party applications.
In general, technically "savvy" people can use this OS as the main operating system on the same Galaxy Nexus right now, there are no problems. Of course, there are still few applications, you also need to use the console / terminal to perform certain functions. But this is not such a big problem, if at all.
