The combat robot “Scorpion” is driven by six electric motors, one for each wheel. Rare earth magnets used in motors, can achieve a total power of 150 hp and torque of 500 N * m. Outside, the wheel-motor (5) is protected by an armored cap (43) and a foam rubber tire (42). Hereinafter, part numbers in parentheses are the part numbers indicated in the illustrations.
Electric motors are powered by batteries (57), which provide the robot with a range of 80 km. A version of the robot equipped with a diesel generator (58.59) is also provided, which increases the power reserve, but makes silent movement impossible.
The robot is controlled by a secure radio channel. In the case of radio signal jamming, automatic activation of the programs for searching and destroying the source of interference or returning to the base is provided.
To control the robot you need two people: one is responsible for the movement of the robot, the second - for the firing. Information on the control panel is transmitted from HD video cameras located around the perimeter of the body and on the rotating tower of the robot. The cameras are equipped with a mechanism to quickly replace the glass in case it is damaged by a bullet or a fragment, without interrupting the broadcast.
In addition, around the robot tower there are several rings of narrowly focused microphones that not only transmit sound to the operator’s console, but also know how to determine the direction in which the source of a loud sound (for example, a shot or explosion) is located and give the command to turn the tower in that direction. The operator can only make a shot.
The armament of the “Scorpion” consists of two Kalashnikov tank guns, a pneumatic cannon firing spherical grenades and a grenade launcher. Robot ammunition is 500 rounds, 500 spherical grenades (14), 21 RPG-type grenades (29).
Separately, it is worth mentioning spherical grenades, which are activated by high air pressure in the barrel, which occurs at the moment of the shot, and until this moment is absolutely safe. Grenades can be fragmentation, light and smoke.
From bullets and small and medium fragments, the Scorpion is protected by composite dispersion-ceramic armor, the use of which in conjunction with the aluminum case ensures a low weight of the entire machine (up to 800 kg.).
The cost of production of one such robot is relatively low: $ 250,000-300.000
All the technologies used to create the robot already exist today, so it is possible to hope that in a few years we will see such a device in the service of the armed forces of our country.

Grenade 14 contains a spherical metal layer 66 made, for example, of steel grit, covered with a fluoroplastic sheath 67. Inside the metal layer 66 is a spherical explosive layer 68 with an internal cavity 69. The cavity 69 is connected to the outside air through ducts 70 passing through the layers 68, 66 and sheath 67. Each duct 70 ends with an air pressure sensor 71 located in cavity 69 around its perimeter. Near the sensors 71 are located primers 72. Inside the cavity 69 there is a fuse, which can only be activated under high air pressure as the spherical grenade 14 moves along the barrel 13.
