Continuing the theme of smart watches

Well, manufacturers can not succeed immediately in everything. Pebble Watch is good at its functionality, Sony SmartWatch is too smart, but today's ones work on a single battery for a year. True, there are other disadvantages ...

')
Cookoo Watch, like Pebble Watch - Kikstarter-project [ habra link ], therefore, of course, everything was done by the will of the people and for the people. The idea of creating Cookoo came up with Peter Hauser a few years ago, and long-term work became the main engine of the concept. The engineer and the pilot (and Peter had such an experience in the past) wanted the watch to be able to synchronize calendars, SMS and other information with iOS and Android devices while working for about a year. What to say? Happened. But it was not without jambs ...

Specs

- iOS support
- Bluetooth 4.0
- Screen backlight
- Monaural speaker
- Battery for watch hands: 3 years of work
- Battery for Bluetooth: 1 year of operation
- Rubber strap
- Moisture resistance
- Dustproof

At Kikstarter, the project raised $ 300,000 , despite the fact that the developers requested 150,000.

Cookoo Watch is sold in 6 different colors and cost about $ 130 at home (that is, in the USA). [ of. shop ]

Concerning design and size, controversial questions arise: someone likes it, someone does not like it. I have not decided. On the one hand, I like watches, they are stylish. On the other hand, blue coloring seems to be superfluous here. As for the thickness, and this is a little, a lot almost 17 millimeters, contrary to many opinions, I remain with my own - it does not interfere.

If we talk about ease of use, then on the hand the watch is sitting very well. It is noteworthy that the rubber strap does not natitraet hand. By the way, the belt can be changed to any other.

Functional

Cookoo Watch does not have a screen, there are only icons notifying you that an SMS has arrived, that a call is missed, that there is an unwatched event in the calendar.

If someone calls, Cookoo makes a sound once (so reminiscent of the Montano clock), then the icon flashes on the screen and nothing happens. That is, in the subway, in the car or on the street one can hardly notice that the clock somehow lives.

The same goes for SMS, mail and other notifications. Everything becomes clear only when you look at the clock.

But there is another function here. Chek-in. One click of the Command button can be checked in on Facebook or, for example, inside the application on the map. This is useful when you need to remember a place or build a route. (Or, if the son goes for a walk, and on the condition that you are an incredulous dad, you can make the son click on the button every half hour and know where the child is)

In general, the Command button regresses for a short, medium and long press, and it can be programmed for the following functions:

- Chek-in on Facebook
- Mark on the map
- Find iPhone (notification comes)
- Play / Pause in the player
- Next / previous track

The remaining buttons are trivial: turn on / off Bluetooth, backlight, turn on / off silent mode.

Stio say the fact that the clock only works with iOS devices, but the developer promises to support Android soon.

Conclusion

The watch is the clear leader among the “smart” battery endurance. Still, Bluetooth 4.0 is a serious application. But the software needs to be updated clock. Cookoo often loses the signal, and does not always correctly respond to notifications, that is, some miss, and some hang on the screen forever. As for the design, here everything suits me.
