SAP will hire autistic employees
Hello.
Today, my attention was attracted by the news that SAP announced that by 2020 it is going to employ 650 autistic employees, which will amount to 1% of the total number of company employees (According to recent studies, approximately the same proportion of the planet’s population suffers ailment). Today, there are already 6 autistic employees in the company's division in India, and another 5 jobs are planned to be created in Ireland.
This initiative is not only an act of humanism and social responsibility on the part of the company. SAP expects to derive well-defined benefits from the unusual abilities of new employees. With known problems in communication, autists have a number of valuable advantages: observation, ability to concentrate, attention to trifles, and just an unusual view of the world around us. The company offers autism positions of programmers, testers and quality specialists.
It should be noted that work with autists imposes a number of restrictions on the employer: a strict daily routine, a constant environment, a constant circle of contact persons.

Unfortunately, my own knowledge of autistics is reduced to the films “Rain Man”, “Mercury in Danger” and the series “Doctor House”. I do not work in SAP and it is unlikely that my current employers will follow the initiative of a German company, but it is interesting to hear your opinions.
