Sports bloggers banned from updating frequently

The National University Sports Association (NCAA) has released a special guide for online bloggers ( PDF ). It contains in the smallest detail instructions on how bloggers are allowed to cover NCAA competitions, so that God forbid, do not infringe upon the interests of the copyright holder.

Here is the maximum allowed update rate for a sports blog that covers the NCAA competition.

Football Five times in half, once in the break.
Hockey Three times in the period, once in breaks.
Basketball Five times in half, once in a break, twice in overtime.
Tennis . Ten per day / per session.
... and so on (19 more sports).
')
Special limits are set even for fencing and bowling.

The fact is that student basketball, baseball, football and other leagues are very popular in the USA. The best college players become famous all over America and continue their careers in the NHL, NBA and MLS. The NCAA makes a lot of money selling TV rights. Therefore, "student" bosses are strictly monitored so that bloggers are not able to work too professionally. They believe that if readers get the full picture of the match from a free blog, it can damage the popularity of TV shows (although you can argue with the exact opposite: it is possible that broadcasting over the Internet will only stir up interest in the TV show and encourage someone to turn on the TV).

However, NCAA bosses argue extremely conservatively and therefore tighten censorship. Naturally, the video broadcasts on the Internet is not even a question. Police can arrest a visitor with a video camera right on the podium.
