By the end of 2008, the first Russian-language domain, the RF, will appear in Russia. This was announced at a press conference in Moscow by the Director of the Coordination Center of the RU domain Andrei Romanov.
According to him, currently testing a new domain. In particular, Internet users can view how email programs and browsers work with it.
Romanov added that the Russian letter "f" will allow to exclude repetitions with domain names registered in the Latin language. “After commissioning the Russian-language domain, the domain“ ru ”will not be possible to use when registering domain names in Cyrillic,” said Romanov.

After the introduction of the Cyrillic domain, the subjects of the Federation will have the opportunity to register their own domains, reports REGNUM.
Romanov also noted that the name of the organization that will administer this domain is still unknown.
