Game Boy Pocket: quick review + giblets

It's hard to find someone who doesn't know about Nintendo portable consoles. It is even more difficult to find one whose childhood / youth came in the 90s, and who did not dream of having one of them. The article will discuss the second generation of the Nintendo Gameboy consoles: Gameboy Pocket.

Short review

The device appeared on the Japanese market in July 1996 (the very first Gameboy came out in the 89th). Pocket has become smaller, thinner and lighter than its predecessor. As a power source, 2 AAA batteries were used (against 4 AA for Original), which resulted in a decrease in battery life (different sources indicate different values, subjectively - 10-12 hours of operation). The hardware platform remains the same.

Subjectively, in comparison with the predecessor, the device has become many times more convenient and more mobile. Disappeared feeling impressive in size and weight of the brick. And yes, Pocket really successfully fits in your pocket.

I had 2 copies at my disposal: Gameboy Pocket Yellow and Gameboy Hello Kitty Limited Edition. The first is made in China, the second in Japan. Differences neither in the quality of materials nor in the quality of assembly are not noticeable. Even 17 years after the release, the state of the devices is up to par. During this time, no squeaks / backlash appeared in the case, except that the battery compartment lid slightly under the fingers.
