Crowdfunding for someone who releases something on a regular basis.

You may have heard about the Pomplamoose Youtube project, consisting of musician Jack Conti (Jack Conte) and singer Natali Don (Nataly Dawn). Links to their work met on Habré.

So, Jack decided to launch "kickstarter for musicians", the site is called patreon.com . The main difference is that sponsors (patrons in the terminology of patreon.com) do not raise money for one big project. Instead, the patrons take the performer “under patronage” and agree to pay a certain amount each time he releases something new, for example, a song, a disc, or a music video. Jack explains this in a video from his page on patreon.com :

Of course, the cartridges may limit how much money a month they intend to spend on these projects, so that if some performer releases something very often, the cartridges will not go beyond the established budget.

At the same time, since we are talking about regular payments, we don’t expect much - bets start from $ 1, but hundreds of fans donating even $ 1 can greatly stimulate a favorite artist.

As bonuses are offered such things as free access to a private section, where the performer can upload some kind of buns only for cartridges; advantage in the queue when selling tickets to the performer's concerts; all sorts of video lessons from the artist; opportunity to chat with the performer in Google Hangout.

As it seems to me, this is a very promising thing, especially for those who already have some kind of fan base, which is ready, even if only a little, but to support their favorite artist.

It is curious that Jack’s page indicated that the cartridges had collected almost 2,400 dollars for each video, the amount of 800 dollars on the Nateli page, and 145 dollars on the Pomplamoose page .

It seems to me that such crowdfunding can be very promising - and not only for musicians. For everyone who regularly publishes videos for bloggers or writers who can raise money for each story / chapter of the story. In principle, even in the development of software such an approach can have its application.

Jack everywhere explains that the site is quite young, it just started and therefore there are still not enough functions, but the work on it is actively continuing.

And finally, a couple of Jack's music videos:
