Adobe finally moves to the cloud and closes the development of Fireworks.

An entry in the official Adobe Fireworks blog, based on the Max conference taking place these days:

The future of Adobe Fireworks.

Today (05/06/2013) at the MAX conference we announced a new generation of our tools, now known as “CC” (Creative Cloud), including Photoshop CC, Dreamweaver CC, Flash Professional CC, Edge Animate CC, and others.
As you may have noticed, updates for Fireworks CS6 were not included.

In recent years, the number of matches in Fireworks functionality with existing Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as the new Edge Reflow, has increased.
At the same time, our development team switched to the creation of more modular tools and services that help to perform specific tasks in web design.
In consequence of the above, we decided not to upgrade Fireworks to CC, instead we focused on developing new tools for our clients.

Although we do not plan to further develop Fireworks, we will continue to sell Fireworks CS6, as well as make it available on Creative Cloud.
We will release security updates as needed and fix bugs.
We are planning to update Fireworks to support the next versions of Mac OS X and Windows.
These plans can be adjusted as more specific information becomes available about the next versions of Windows and Mac OS X.

We understand that Fireworks has one of the most committed communities on the Internet, and that these changes will be difficult to accept.
The goal of reorienting development is to create a new generation of task-focused tools to help our clients create great web content.
