Last week, Instagram introduced a slightly redesigned logo, making subtle but significant changes to the original version,
writes The Verge. The new logo was designed by McKee Setaday, a Denver typographer and friend of Instagram co-founder Kevin Sistrom.
McKee began working on a redesign more than a year ago, redrawing the
Billabong font by hand to create a more elegant version. Changes can hardly be described as dramatic, they can not even be noticed at first glance, but the new design has certainly become more pure and alive.
It looked like the old logo:

The idea was to create a logo that would stand the test of time. “The real goal is to be together with such timeless fonts as Kellog’s and Campbell’s,” says McKee. "Coca-Cola is another great example."
